Play Nice: This means no bashing members, cursing members, or attacking members or staff. That being said, please remember that any rudeness or dislike that a character expresses towards your character does not reflect how the person playing that character feels about you. It just means that they are being realistic in their Role-Playing (because who likes everyone they meet anyway?). If you feel uncomfortable with the way your character is being treated, however, PM the Mods.
No Godmodding: This means no taking control of or writing for other players' characters without said player's permission. If characters are getting into a fight players should be able to mutually decide on a clear winner, loser, or draw based on the circumstances, which character is the more powerful, and/or plot direction. You are absolutely not allowed under any circumstances to kill or inflict permanent/major damage on someone else's character without their permission.
No Abusing The No Godmodding Rule: Just because other players are not allowed to godmod does not mean that this gives you a free pass to have your character get away with anything; If your character is annoying an obviously more powerful character or bating said character into a fight or committing an act of betrayal that will piss off said character, then you must be prepared to deal with the consequences. If the other player complains that you are letting your character get away with too much, the Mods will step in and decide your character's fate.
No Breaking The Law: Yes, getting sued over an online RPG is very unlikely but we plan on keeping our bases covered as thoroughly as possible. Due to the adult nature of this game, we require all members to be at least 18 years or older for simple legal reasons. Threads/Posts with discussions about "illegal" software, downloads, sites, etc are not allowed and will be promptly deleted.
If you are planning on a major development for your character (such as your character being killed, kidnapped, impregnated, etc.) please notify the Mods first. Note: If your reason for killing your own character is simply that you don't wish to play them anymore, or you don't have the time-- because we realize some people besides me have lives-- just let us know. Chances are there is someone willing to pick up your character and keep them alive if it is a canon character!
The Application Process.
You must read all of the information pages before applying. Yes, we realize that's a lot to read over, especially if you only ever intend on playing a single character of one type, but ultimately accepted players will be reading a great deal more on a weekly basis in this game. And as we have had some trouble with players not understanding basic character type information resulting in miscommunication and a disruption of the narrative flow in the past, it is of the utmost importance to us that every player has the same basic understanding of character types before entering our game. The pages you need to read and comprehend include: Greek Demigods Information Page, Other Pantheons Information Page, & HEUG Information Page. There are code quotes on each of these pages (and this one as well!) to be used on your application to ensure that you have read and understood all of the necessary background information.
You are also advised to examine our Taken Pages to avoid the possibility of duplicating first or lastnames for characters. Yes, we are aware that sometimes people have the same name in real life, but in RP duplicated names tend to just be confusing.
Unfortunately, we do find the need to reject applications from time to time. When we do so, the Mods do try to be as sensitive and helpful as possible. We always try to give a thorough and honest explanation for our decision and it is our hope that this will be some comfort to rejected applications.
If you are accepted you will be required to post your contact info to the Friends Locked Contact Info Page (you will be linked to it upon acceptance) and encouraged to make a player and/or character introduction in the OOC community to meet the other players and establish lines/connections if possible.
Once accepted, you are not allowed to make changes to your character's history or abilities without mod approval.
Actual Gameplay Rules:
When making new posts (in the main community and in the OOC community) or posting in reply to one, please be sure to tag accordingly. (If it is the first time your character is in a thread in the main community, there might not be a tag for him or her just yet; please be patient, as the Mods do their best to create character tags by the completion of their first thread. If your character is in his/her second thread and there is still no tag for him/her then you may contact the Mods.)
We also require you use the following format for all new threading posts:
Please make your posts longer than two lines. Anything less will be considered spam. It really isn't that hard to take a few extra sentences and describe what your character is feeling or seeing around them.
No double posting; edit your post if you need to add something else. If your thread has been left open and unreplied to, the mod team will be doing their best to promote the thread in the mod update.
Avoid excessive use of ALL CAPS, all lowercase, DiStOrTeD TeXt and kool t@lk. (Note: When posting in character, ALL CAPS mean your character is yelling, but please try not to yell that often and only when necessary.)
Ultimately, we would prefer if all threads were left viewable to the public. This allows for people who are thinking about applying to our game to see how active it is and what is currently going on in the plot. The only threads that should be friends locked are those that are rated NC-17.
Upon acceptance, you will notice that a Mod Update appears around the same time. Mod Updates happen regularly on add days and sometimes in the interim periods. You are required to read Mod Updates and if we get the sense that players aren't reading Mod Updates we will be very cross.
We do conduct monthly activity checks. Everyone will be given plenty of advance warning in the OOC comm before an impending activity check and the terms of that month's activity check will be explained clearly at such time.
If, during the course of your time at camphalfbloodrp, you need to take a hiatus (or return from one!), please make a note of it over on our Official Hiatus Pageand by letting us know in the OOC comm.
If, regrettably, you feel the need to drop a character or leave the game, please make a note of it at the Dropbox, notify any players you have lines with personally, and make a note of in the OOC comm.
Finally, please note:
The mods reserve the right to expel any player from the game at any time for any reason.
And just so that we know you've read the rules, put "I am impertinent" as your comment subject when applying for a character. Any comments without this title will be denied membership and told to look at the rules more carefully before re-applying!
